No Mercy by Shannon Dermott BOOK REVIEW

Published (first published July 24th 2012)

Edition : First

Language: English

Series: Cambion #2.5

Print Length: 76 pages

ASIN: B008NWXK0O

Symmary

This is a novella in the Cambions series that should be read after Waiting for Mercy.

Warning - this book is intended for mature audience. Excessive language and sexual situations may not be suitable for younger teens.

Best Friends until the end huh?

Flynn McAllister, bad to the bone, at least that’s what the girls say about him, is heading out of town for the weekend. He’s meeting up with a girl he met last summer. She and her sister will keep him and his best friend busy for the weekend. At least that’s what he thought, until a girl and other things get out of hand.

Luke Bishop isn’t an angel like everyone thinks. Okay, technically, maybe. But when it comes down to it, actions speak louder than words. And his shout that he’s more than what meets the eye. Getting out of town is a welcome idea. He just didn’t plan on meeting her and all the hell came with her.

My Review

First I Want to take some time to thank Shannon, I was a Beta reader for this book and I loved every second of it. If you´ve followed Book Addict for some time you know that I love Shannon´s books and that the Cambion Series is one of my favorites.

Anyway I was very very lucky to be among the few that Beta this book, partly becouse it was a small novella and partly cause Shannon has had some serious problems with piracy and thats what makes this book even more special to me cause, Shannon Dermott trusted me enough with her work to know that I wouldnt share it no matter what.

THANK YOU SHANNON!!!!!

Ok, ok that´s sugar for another coffe LOL!!! so lets get back with the Review.

I Loved, loved, loved this novella, it truly gave me an insight on Luke´s and Flynn´s friendship and why despite what has happened on the series they remain friends of sorts LOL!!!

The fact that we get to see another side of look was amazing, his mister goody two shoes routine gets a bit shaken after everything we learn here.

Flynn is my favorite and i still support him all the way I really hope that he has a happy ending cause he´s so cute and really just a good guy. It´s pretty funny if you ask me cause know after reading this novella I got the feeling that  Flynn is the sheep in wolf Clothing LOL!!! and Luke, well our Angel boy has way more bad in him that we new .

She has three weeks to get to know each lord, but her journey turns into far more than a simple choice of the heart.  Rayla comes face to face with the underhanded dealings of the fae political system where good is a matter of taste and evil lurks under beautiful shells.  Long held judgments crumble when she discovers the heart beneath the men she has come to count on.  Rayla must overcome long held fears, discover the truth behind the creatures of the dark realms, and conquer her greatest weakness before she can take her place as the new queen of the fae.
However, her world crumbles when she discovers following her heart’s desire might just mean the destruction of the world.  Will Rayla have the courage to choose the man who has risked everything to win her, or will she succumb to the manipulations of the fae council and those who would use her power for evil?

Excerpt
The Bathroom Scene
Hoping that a bath might help soothe her, Cory started running her water and added an excessive amount of bubble bath, she hated running out of bubbles too soon. She stripped off her bloody clothes and threw them in the trash; there would be no saving those. After laying out a towel, she climbed in and bathed. When she was all clean she leaned her head back and relaxed, letting the hot water soothe her aching muscles and her unsettled thoughts.
She was sitting neck deep in heaven with her eyes closed when she heard someone approaching the bathroom door. She knew who it was long before he reached the door and slammed it open. The doorknob stuck in the sheetrock wall behind the door.
“Did you need something Nick or do you just get off on destroying my home?” She said it without bothering to move or even open her eyes. She could feel the anger rolling off of him but chose to ignore it. She was growing tired of being forever at war with him. It was a war she had come to realize neither of them would ever win.
“What do you think you were doing going over my head and speaking to my father about Elehna?” He stopped nearly frozen in the doorway when he saw her in the bathtub. Leaned back with her feet propped up on the side of the tub and her head back, she looked positively blissful and a thousand different erotic images leapt into his mind. Stifling a groan and desperately trying to focus on his anger he continued, “She is my responsibility, therefore all decisions regarding her well being are mine to make, not my father’s and certainly not yours.”
Cory rolled her eyes and sat up, crossing her arms on the side of the tub and resting her chin on them. “What would you have me do Nick? I was right. I just needed someone to back me up on it and you refused. She needs to be around people, people other than just you and your men. Keeping her locked in my apartment for all eternity is going to drive her insane.”
Nick opened his mouth to respond but Cory stood up in the tub and it felt like his jaw kept going all the way to the floor. She was just as breathtaking as he had imagined and he was instantly hard. “Good God woman, I’m not a eunuch. Don’t you have any shame at all?”
Cory laughed a little as she replied, “No actually, I don’t. And you know, it might not be such a bad life choice for you to get clipped. Then perhaps we could have a conversation every now and then, without all the blood rushing away from your brain.” At his shocked look she smiled and said, “Oh yes, I’ve noticed. You aren’t immune to me, no matter how much you dislike me. I think it’s because you know you can’t have me.”
She leaned down to retrieve her towel off the floor and when she stood up he was right in front of her, only inches away and seriously pissed off. Her breath caught in her throat as she looked up into his eyes. He was angry yes, but there was also something a thousand times more powerful in his burning eyes; desire. Cory trembled at his nearness and that long unsatisfied hunger came rushing to the forefront of her mind once again.
Nick smiled when he felt her tremble. “I’m not the only one who wants something they can’t have.” He reached up a hand and gently rubbed the back of his knuckles across her cheek. She closed her eyes and before she could stop herself she leaned into the caress. His hand reached behind her head and tilted her face up towards his own. His other hand snaked around her and pulled her close. “But who says we can’t get what we want?”

Interested yet? are you? are you?

hehehe I know you are, anyway if you want to know what this scene was all about and what happens after Nick makes such a statement can know more about it if you stalk Lanie Malone (The Author) wich you can do on the following links

About Lanie

Wife, mother, student, domestic goddess, blogger, author, animal lover, avid reader, tomboy... the labels and titles go on and on. But I don't want to be labelled any one thing. I am all of these things and they are all a part of who I am. So the end result is just me, something of a mess, with interests all over the place. But also with the ability to adapt when necessary.

Writing for me is, essentially, a purge. Not to sound like a spiritual nut, because I'm not, but it allows me to take all of the negative energy within me and focus it on something positive. To pour out from my soul, all the things that make me crazy, a process that leaves me feeling refreshed and revitalized. My writing isn't necessarily deep, there are things in it that people who know me well, could make the connections, and figure out exactly what part of my history I am referencing, if only to draw on it for authenticity. But it is still, all, just little pieces of me. Or more accurately, little things that are a reflection of me and although there is something of a darker element to some of it, it is meant only to be entertaining. I have no desire to have my work analyzed by college professors and students. I don't need my books to become classics or even fads. I just want average people like myself, to enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

I love to talk, so talk to me

But when Shaw questions Cole's motives, and his lies are revealed, will the connection they've begun to forge be torn apart, or will the soul-deep bond they once had save them both and crash through Shaw's amnesia, once and for all?

My Review

I really liked Anna DeStefano´s writting style, the romance and the susppence where great on this book. she can really capture your atention with her writting and knows exactly how to spice up the pages.

Shaw as a character was amazing cause we couldnt really know much about her cause she looses her memory due to a traumatic event but the way her character grows as teh book progresses was very well planned and executed.

Cole Marino, well what can i saw other than OMG FBI agents are H.O.T!!!! yeah if you´ve ever dream of feeling pettite and femenine in the arms of a man, Cole Marino is that man.

I really enjoyed this book and i´ll def. be looking for more titles from Anna Destefano

Joe by H.D. Gordon Blog Tour

Hello there, if you guys know anything about me, you got to know that I´m a huge fan of H.D. Gordon´s Alexa Montgomery Saga. When I heard that she had a book coming out soon, I wantedto know everything about it; you see, H.D. has this thing with cliffhangers that make me crazy for more.

anyway as the master stalker I´m becoming (snort) I started gathering all the info I could on this secret new title, that had nothing to do with her Alexa Saga. so I ended up being one of the first people to actually read it and I have to say i´ve never read something like this in my life.

Synopsis

From the author of the Alexa Montgomery Saga, comes a book that will take you into the mind of a geniune pyschopath, the lives of six ordinary people, and the world of a very special girl named Joe.

Joe is seemingly an ordinary college student. She works, studies and reads. But in between these activities Joe has a gift that promises to add a dose of color to her life at any given moment. Joe sees things before they happen. Bad things, and the worst thing she has ever faced is just around the corner. Someone is planning a massacre at the college university that Joe attends, and the only person with a hope of stopping the pyschopath is her.

Oh, the beauty of foresight. More like a curse. Joe has four days to figure out the mystery, make plans to take down the pyscho, and save the lives of people. People like you and me. Ordinary people

My Review

To say that this book is something else, is an understatement.
Thrilling, Phenomenal, something never before seen;
yeah that´s more like it

When we meet Joe all we know of her is that, she experieced some things that changed her and for those first lines I couldn´t help but to wonder what was behind the sadness she poured on the pages of her diary.

You see Joe is different and im not talking a bout the fact that she stutters, Joe can see glimpses of bad things that will take place on the future and she makes it her mission to try and stop those thing form happening.

The most incredible thing about this book is that you get to meet several characters, you are inside their heads, inside their hearts, you get to know them as a person and really connect. They are normal people like you and me. Mothers, Fathers, sons, friends that have nothing in common other than the fact that they live and feel like we do and that they are about to experience something that would change them forever.

Since the first few pages when we start getting glimpses of the Decider´s mind ( he´s the bad guy) I got trapped it was like reading Hitchcook´s "The Lodger" or taking a dive at all the emotions that John Grisham´s " A time to Kill" inspired in me.

The Decider´s perspective is so strong comfident and evil, that I got chills every time, I could hear his voice in my head and I prayed. I prayed for all the people I´ve meet in this book to survive at the end and I prayed for everyone i know, that they would never encounter someone like him.

You see that´s the thing with this book, it´s so real that even though is a story, a magnificent story; you know that ´somewhere out there is someone as crazy as he is, you´ve heard stories about people like him and it´s well... plain scary if you ask me.

Guys this book is full of adrenaline, gritty, fast paced, it builds anticipation and has your emotions running at 100000 per hour. The suspense drived me to the edge time and time again.

I´ve got to be a honest here, I cried like a baby, I sobbed and hurt all over from the intensity of the emotions this book brought up witthin me.

This aint a good read this is The Read of  2012
