Half Black Soul (The Alexa Montgomery Saga #2) ARC REVIEW!!!!

Format: Kindle Edition
Sold by: Amazon Digital Services and Barnes & Noble
Price: $3.99
Language: English
Publication Date: January 31st 2012
Genre: PNR and UF

My Review
There are good books, great books, the ones that make you laugh out loud and cry and the ones that you know are going to be best sellers since page one.
Half Black Soul is even better; it´s the kind of book you know is going to make history!!!
When I started reading this series I was captivated by the quality of the writing and the way emotion poured out of the pages. I knew since book one that this series was something other, something great and guess what, I was absolutely 100% right.
Alexa´s fantastic ride continues with more twists and turns than I could have imagined, she´s strong and capable, but at the same time she has a soft and fragile heart; a force to be reckoned with none the less. She´s the kind of woman that knows what she wants and fights for it.
The plot is amazingly well developed and makes your toes curl in a very painful but delicious way.
Kayden is perfection, am I biased?, Hell yeah!!!! I´ve been drooling over him since book 1 and what better way to describe how perfect he is, than use Alexa´s own words“if God had called me up to heaven, and told me that I was allowed to build a man to belong to me, I would have built myself a Kayden.” Yeah!!! He´s THAT good…
Nelly develops in a way that will swept you off your feet, she´s fantastic and every bit as strong as Alexa; she just doesn´t know it yet.
I am no Pythonist, but mark my words this series is going to be HUGE!!!! I mean Movie Contract, Best Seller huge!!!
This book is going to be out for sale on
January 31st.
If you haven’t read Blood Warrior, what are you waiting for? Trust me this series you don’t want to miss…

This omnibus edition of the "Hunters of the Dark" paranormal fantasy series collects the first three full-length books in the series ("Her Dark Destiny," "Night Cries," and "Face the Dark") as well as the prequel novel "The Tomb." Also included in this edition is a never-before-seen bonus chapter and an author interview.

Synopsis of the first book (Her Dark Destiny): Teenager Shanna Hunt has been hunting demons since her parents were murdered by them. She’s used to doing things alone, her own way, but one fateful night throws her into the company of a team of hunters, each specializing in a particular kind of monster: vampires, werewolves, witches, shape-shifters… This newly-formed team should be an unstoppable force for whatever is out there picking off individual hunters across the globe, but their first battle together against the monsters of the night could be their last.

Sixteen year old Channie Kerns leads an idyllic life of seclusion and magic deep in the Ozark Mountains ... until her family is forced to flee for their lives.

They leave everything and everyone behind to start over in Louisville, Colorado. Magic is forbidden while they are in hiding, but Channie can't resist the temptation to enchant a group of local boys. When her overbearing parents catch her flirting with these "sex-crazed, non-magical delinquints,” they slap a chastity spell on her to protect her virtue.
The spell is triggered by lust, so just navigating the halls at her new school is an ordeal. She can't even touch a boy she's attracted to without blasting him with a jolt of magical energy that feels like a taser.

When Channie falls in love with Josh Abrim, a BMX racer with dangerous secrets of his own, she rebels against her parents and turns to dark and forbidden magic to break the chastity spell ... with disastrous results.

Plus "Taken" book two of this amazing Series wich will be released at the end of January.

When Lucy Morgan drops dead along with everyone else on Earth she refuses to take death lying down even if, technically, her corpse is.

She drags her ghostly social life back from the grave and enlists her friends to figure out the rules of the afterlife. More importantly, they want to discover who or what killed everyone and why the heck anyone would do such a mean thing.

But what they discover changes everything. And if they can't figure out how to put their newfound ghostly powers to work, humanity will be extinct for good.

THE NEXT THING I KNEW is the first novel of the Heavenly series. It's a YA Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy that doesn't take itself altogether too seriously

Why this books? cause they are in my top five of all time favorites.

So there each winner will get not one not two but
 SIX Ebooks

So what are you guys waiting for? go click the read-a-thon image  and sign in, i can guarantee you will have  blast.

Kayden

My Review

Blood Warrior is the best Debut Novel out There...

First of all i was traped by Alexa and her strange home from the start her mother rules and strange behaviour, traps you in the same "what´s the hell is going on" that Alexa is feeling and you can´t keep but feel sorry for the girl and at the same time intrigued by it.

Her sister Nelly is adorable and at the same time I keep thinking there´s some thing more to her that I can´t put quite my finger on.

and please don´t make me start with Wolf boy, I mean I want one of those, he´s like the best friend anyone should have, you know the sexy, always there for you and will take care of you and yours till my last breath kind of friend.

the story is extremly intoxicating you get trapped in Alexas inner turnmoil in every page turn, also when KAYDEN appears oh my!!! well that would be rambling on my part but OH MY!!! I want a piece of that!!! lol.

Anyway I loved this book and I even felt dissapointed that it ended I wanted so much more, I still do, and will be waiting for the next one that I hope will come out soon enough.

So if you loved VA this is something you should really consider reading.

Half Black Soul, Book Two on the Alexa Montgomery Saga is Schedule to be released on January 31st and i´m dying to get my hands on it so I can have my fill!!!!

Kayden´s Interview

1.- What was your childhood like?
I take a moment before speaking, the question catching me off guard. My eyebrows draw together as I try to remember what life was like back then. “I spent a great deal of time with my older brother,” I say “He was my hero. When I wasn’t with him, I preferred to be by myself. I never craved relationships with friends, and I still don’t. My mother was a good woman. She raised both of us by herself. I still don’t know how she did it.”
2.- How and when did you realized you were the last of your kind?
I stare down at my hands for a moment, an image of my mother passing through my head. I feel like it’s been an eternity since I last saw her. A small ache slowly spreads out across my chest. “My mother used to tell me that I was ‘special’,” I say. “I wouldn’t understand what she meant for a very long time.” My throat feels dry, and I swallow to try and soothe it.
3.- Can you tell me about your Sister-in-law and niece?
I sit silently for what seems to me like a very long time. What is it she wants me to say? I don’t want to say anything at all. I clear my throat. “They’re wonderful people,” I say. I hope the look on my face makes it clear that this is all I am willing to share.
4.- What did you think the first time you saw Alexa?
A small smile finds its way to my lips. Alexa. What did I think? I thought it was hard to breathe. “I thought that life as I knew it was about to change,” I say.
5.- What does Alexa means to you?
This I don’t have to pause for. I decide to answer the question with a question. “What does that muscle pumping blood in your chest mean to you?” I say, and sit back in my seat.
6.- What do you think of Jackson?
Jackson who? I think, but I know who she’s talking about. The wolf. The boyfriend. The boy. I suppose, if I’m being fair, he’s never given me a reason not to like him. Well, not really. “He seems like a nice kid,” I say.
7.- What did you feel when you had to fight Alexa in the Arena?
I’d known this one was coming. I take a deep breath. “I felt like I deserved to be burned at the stake,” I say, but that isn’t quite right is it? What I felt? I felt despicable, vile, and mostly, ashamed. So very, very ashamed. I won’t tell her that it was one of the things that I would regret for the rest of my life.
8.- Why didn´t you kissed Alexa when you had the chance?
I smirk, and don’t answer. Eventually, she moves to the next question.
9.-  you talk a lot about Alexa but you don’t seem to talk too much around her, why is that?
I think a lot about Alexa. “I’m not one for conversation,” I say.
10.-  What are your  plans regarding Alexa and what do you think about her quest?
Regarding Alexa? All my plans regard Alexa. “To help her in any way I can,” I say. I pause for a moment, wondering what more I should say. “Alexa is noble,” I add. Young, stubborn, but noble. “Her quest is noble, too,” I say.
One last thing, if you could tell her something right now, that she´s alone looking for her mother and with danger surrounding her, what would that be?
Easy, I think. A half smile comes to my lips. “Don’t die,” I say.
There guys that was Kayden i gotta say he´s one tough cookie but i did my best between drooling and batting my lashes I think this went quite well LOL!!! bad thing about this interview, he didn´t ask for my number, but hey it least i slept on his door step and got to talk to him for a bit, hehehehe!!!

Goodreads Synopsis

He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her...
Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life.
She's haunted by dreams of her own death...
After catching her fiance with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting Calisto she's drawn to him in ways she doesn't understand.
They've waited in the shadows for centuries...
Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto to the night might destroy the only woman he's ever loved again.

My Review

I had many expectations for this book; for the most part I tend to prefer first person narrative because it helps me get into the story and get to know more about the main character, however Night Walker is written in third person point of view and grabbed me since page one. Not many author are capable to convey so much emotion on this type of narration but Lissa Kessler did and with flying colors.
The star-crossed love story has being done any number of times, but not quite like this, I loved the fact that Calisto, the male lead on this book; has been mourning for his lost love for over 200 years, he´s haunted by guilt and memories of Tala and lives wondering what may have been. The pain of losing her it´s what drives him to embrace immortality for a chance to meet her again.
Calisto is one of the best renditions I’ve found of a strong powerful character, he practically holds the book together on his own.
Strange as it may seem I couldn´t connect with Kate as I did with Calisto, she´s a normal woman, nothing extraordinary about her other than the fact that, she is a reincarnation of Calisto´s long lost love; guess what?  I love that!!!, I always tend to connect with the female side of the story but in this case it was all about Calisto, that’s a new one for me and I really like it.
This book has a lot of dark subject though; rape, murder and just plain deviant sexuality. This a very mature read in content but a very good read none the less.
What I liked the most about this book is that it could easily be a standalone or part of a series, the story is so perfectly weaved together that at the end you have this sense of fulfillment but at the same time you want to keep reading more about Calisto, Kate and the world around them.

A Demon Made Me Do it by Penelope King BOOK REVIEW!!!!

Format: Kindle Edition

File Size: 531 KB

Print Length: 325 pages

Page Numbers Source ISBN: 0615490034

Publisher: Ascension Press; 2 edition (June 14, 2011)

Sold by: Amazon Digital Services

Language: English

Genre: Paranormal Romance

ASIN: B00534J7G6

About the Author:

Penelope King is a native Californian who now lives in beautiful South Carolina. She says "y'all" more often than she'd like to admit, eats more fried food than is probably healthy, and still hasn't gotten used to the scary thunderstorms that seem to appear from out of nowhere.
She stays up way too late and does the bulk of her writing in the witching hours. She rarely misses a sunrise, and needs to include a special "thank you" in her book credits to Starbucks caramel frappuccinos.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Some girls share clothes, a bathroom, or a bedroom. Seventeen-year-old Liora Greyson has to share, too. Only she shares her body--with a demon.

Liora just wants to survive her final year of high school unscathed, her dark secret intact. But the walls she’s carefully constructed to keep people away crack wide open once she meets the sexy and mysterious Kieron, and he lights her world on fire. She can’t let him know she transforms into a demon named "Lucky" at nightfall—a demon with an entirely separate personality who passes out Torment, Justice, and Revenge like Halloween candy.

Turns out Kieron is the one who should be afraid once Lucky discovers his true identity and motivations. Liora wants to love him, but Lucky thinks he’s public enemy number one. And having a demon with a vendetta show up during a romantic date puts a serious crimp in any relationship.

Fighting your demons is one thing. Having one that fights back, messes with your guy, and leaves you with nasty hangovers is quite another.

Being bad has never been so good...
When she's not writing, she's reading any and all YA out there, swimming, kayaking at the river, doing Zumba and kickboxing, or watching a trashy reality show. She can BBQ better than most men, and if she had to marry a food it would probably be pizza, but she'd cheat on it with sushi.

My Review:

I gotta say I was really excited about reading this book, the blurb was compelling as hell and guess what it didn´t disappoint.
We met Liora and Lucky
Liora is your average young woman, well average isn´t the correct word to describe her but, you´ll get the idea.  Liora is a lovely and lonely girl that passes her time between school and tending to her blind grandmother. She just has one friend on her whole world and her biggest dream is to be complete again and to be able to love and be loved.
Lucky is a Demon one that doesn´t takes crap from nobody and her solely purpose in life it´s to make a wrong right, to impart justice to those who destroyed her life; her biggest regret not being able to stop evil when she was younger.
When Kieron appears he disrupts both of their worlds, in a way that may change girl and Demon Forever.
This book in one word is expectacular I loved it from blurb to end I look forward to read more about this amazing story.
The change in perspectives is at no time distracting, all the characters but one are very well developed and the one that’s isn´t I guess is cause she´ll play a fundamental part of the ending of this magnificent series.
A great and fresh plot is what traps you from the start, it´s unique romantic but dark in nature.
You guys should read this ASAP

Genre: Paranormal Romance (Adult)

About the Author:

Gena Showalter is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over 30 books, ranging from white-hot paranormal romances set all over the world (and even in some places that do not technically exit), sexy contemporary novels and thrilling young adult novels.

Amazon Synopsis

Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor's edge of surrender.

Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can't afford because he has an agenda of his own—steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter—the love neither had thought possible.…

My Review

Have you ever watched “Gladiator”? Yeah I’m talking about Russell Crowe in all his warrior glory spilling blood and whatnot and the battle field.
Well this is better way better like a bazillion time’s better.
I love the Lords and this time around I got the opportunity to know more about Strider A.K.A. Defeat. I got to say that I didn´t care much about him at first, he was kinda annoying always outsmarting everyone else, or at least trying too, LOL!!! then I was kinda intrigued by the reason  Kaia wanted him so bad on the previous book and you know me, I had to know what that was about so I went and got The Darkest Surrender.
Boy am I Glad, I did!!!!!!!!!!
Stridey my man rocks, he´s by far my Favorite Lord, he´s sweet, caring, Dark and Dangerous all that wrapped up in a hot package Yummy!!!! Just my type of character.
Kaia is a Harpy and yes!!!, she presents herself as a confident, smartass, arrogant girl but deep down she´s as fragile as a newborn.
Kaia and her sisters are summoned to the Harpy Games (Think “300” the movie but bloodier) and there´s no way they can get out of it. Guilt and the will to redeem herself on the eyes of her race leads Kaia to front the most dangerous event on her life one that may very well be the very last for her; as she and her sisters are the main targets of the other clans due to a mistake that cause a death bath on the same games over a thousand years ago.
Strider fight his attraction to Kaia all the way but when he finds out what she´s up against runs to her aide and between the constant challenges to one another, the fighting and bickering a relationship forms and oh la la!!!!
This is a good read if you love the Lords you´ll love Strider, however this isn´t the best book I’ve read on this series, why? You may ask; well I hate to say this but there was too much telling and not enough showing.
There are a lot of scenes that are skipped and later on a character would just roam over it, the problem is that those scenes would have made this book so much better.
I hate spoilers so I won’t go there but the scenes that got whacked could have made the relationship between Kaia and Strider even stronger among other things.
All in all it wasn´t a blow my mind type of book but it was good, sexy and fun.
So if you love the Lords this is your chance click the link below and get it

About the Author:

Charlotte Abel is a full time writer that lives near Boulder, Colorado with her husband Pete. When she's not reading or writing, she enjoys hiking, bicycling, and archery.
"Enchantment," a paranormal coming of age romance, is her debut novel. She's working on the sequel and plans to publish it by February 2012.
Future projects include "Shattered," a romantic thriller set in the remote Sawatch Mountain wilderness of Colorado

Goodreads Synopsis:

Sixteen year old Channie Kerns leads an idyllic life of seclusion and magic deep in the Ozark Mountains ... until her family is forced to flee for their lives.

The situation becomes unbearable when Channie falls in love with Josh Abrim, a BMX racer with dangerous secrets of his own. She rebels against her parents and turns to dark and forbidden magic to break the chastity spell ... with disastrous results.

My Review

Enchantment is one of the sweetest books I’ve read.
16 years old Channie, is a mage not any mage by all means she is Enchanting, a lovely girl with a heart of gold that´s live her whole life in a Mage town  far away from any empty (Magically Disabled person) civilization.
Her wish to become a healer is right in front of her and she couldn´t be happier until one day everything comes apart and she is forced to move not only far away from home but to a place where that while change the course of her life forever.
Joshua Abrim isn´t exactly your next door kinda boy either, he´s 18 and the number one BMX racer on the country, he dreams  of racing at the Olympics and fight hard to fulfill his dream until one night, one kiss, changed his future and placed his life in great danger.
This are the characters that hold this amazing book together both of them are great characters on their own but together they tell a magnificent story.
I literary stayed up at the wee hours of the morning cause I couldn´t put Enchantment down. Is the kind of book that makes you go back in time and remember your first love and the way your heart raced every time you saw that special boy or girl that had your full attention.
It also has a lot of very powerful lessons among the pages, it talks about true love but it also talks about responsible decisions. I loved the way this book portraits that not only teenagers can make a mess out of everything, that’s adults make poor decisions too and the way those choices can affect everything and everyone around you.
This is a great read guys a book full of magic, passion and angst that will have your toes curling in a delicious way.

The artistic cover had me looking at it over and over again, I loved the way the smoke seems to become a female an it makes me wonder "who that woman is"
The eyes of the girl have a story of their own they are so inviting but at the same time, you know there´s some big secret hidden there.
One of the best covers i´ve seen in a long while.

I asked Tish if she would be able to give an interview and she agreed (I squee... like a little kid)
here is the interview.
1.      When and why did you begin writing?
I feel like I've been writing forever. Whether it's been poems, songs, or just a love note–I have always felt that I express myself best through words.
2.      What inspired you to write your first book?
Actually, the books in The Rose Trilogy aren't the first books that I've written, even though they will be the first ones to be published. My first book was actually Aradia Awakens, which is the first book in my upcoming Ovialell Trilogy. I have a very special connection to the Goddess Aradia, and creating her story of magic, loss and love was something that I felt inspired to tell.
3.      Do you have a specific writing style?
I don't think so. I do prefer it to be very quiet and dimly lit when I write. I don't do outlines, but I do use visual tools. I compile photos that connect me with my characters and their surroundings.
4.      How did you come up with the title?
I actually dreamt the title of Scent of a White Rose. I woke up and knew it would be a story about girl named Rose, and then had the other two titles pop into my head shortly after that. It was divine inspiration!
5.      Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
The Rose Trilogy is about a girl who isn't as innocent as she seems and her journey into the darkest parts of herself; some of which come as a surprise even to her. I'll admit that I didn't purposely tried to tie a message into my books, but I think a message that readers could take from them is be true to who you are and that should always pull you back into the light...maybe!
6.      What books have most influenced your life?
I think that every book that I've read has influenced me in some small way. Whether it's a story that set my imagination to flight and sparked a new idea, or a book that hadn't been edited very well that taught me what not to do; I feel that I take something away from everything I read.
7.      If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Well, I've been lucky enough to have a great mentor throughout this entire process. I won't be naming names, though she is a best-selling author. She knows who she is! *wink* She guided me through the in's and out's of the publishing world and was a constant inspiration for me to make sure that my story was good and original.
8.      Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I continue to refuse to answer this question. There are just so many amazing authors out there that I enjoy that I'm truly incapable of naming favorites.
9.      Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Absolutely! Here's is the opening scene from Scent of a White Rose...
I opened my eyes and felt death. The presence of it, the weight of it, the sadness of it. I couldn't believe my mom was gone. I thought the weight of it described it best. It felt like a weight on my chest...one that would never get lighter.
Dad said that we'd be okay. "Time heals everything, Rose," he always told me in that solemn tone of voice. I didn't believe him. How could I, when I could tell that he didn't even believe it?
But honestly, I didn't want time to pass. I just wanted to lay here on my bed, wide awake in my black funeral clothes, and stare at the ceiling. I just wanted to lay here remembering when my mom and I had painted my room and hung those stars and moons. They weren't the stick-on, glow-in-the-dark kind. They were beautiful crystals in all sizes and colors strung from my freshly painted black ceiling. They danced and gleamed just like we had imagined. Well, just like she had imagined. It had been her idea...my mom, the crafty one.
With a spark of wonder in her voice she'd said, “It will be beautiful and you’ll feel like you’re sleeping under the twinkling stars every night.” I wasn’t convinced. But when we were done, we opened the curtains to let the moonlight flow in, and I was speechless. She’d been right. I'd been amazed as I watched the beautiful little stars and moons twinkle and spin right there in my very own room. God, I love my mom.
I didn't want time to pass. I wanted it to reverse.
10.  Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
The technical aspect of it. I hate having to check my tenses (past or present), making sure I use the appropriate dialogue tags and all grammar related stuff. I write how I talk and that, according to my editor, is the something that makes her crazy! LOL. (Sorry girl!) And I type really fast so my brain tends to lag behind my fingers.
11.  Who designed the covers?
The amazing Regina Wamba of Mae I Design and Photography. She took my ideas and samples and made magic. (At least that's how I feel!)
12.  Which of your characters is your favorite?
Probably Christian, though Evangeline is a close second. I love how loyal and caring Christian is and the fact that he's gorgeous doesn't hurt!
13.  Which of your characters is most/least like you, and in what way(s)?

The most like me? Rose for sure. She's loving to a fault, but is still tough. And she's not afraid to do whatever it takes to get what she wants.

The least like me? Um...Bobby I guess. Obviously because he's a guy, but mainly because he's more carefree and not as tied down as the others in his clan. (I'm very "tied down" and enjoy it immensely.)
Thanks so much Tish for an amazing interview!!!!

My Review

There aren´t enough words to describe how much I love this book.
The plot is amazingly fresh, yes we are talking vampires, but in a different light, with new characteristics and great personalities.
Rose is a sweet young woman that lost her mother recently, but even though she is overcome by grief she is a strong woman, one that wants to live life at is fullest, but her father overprotectiveness and fear of losing the only family he´s got keeps her on the sidelines and forces her to lie to him and look for a way to meet with Christian.
The love Story is extremely well developed and even though they already are an item when the story starts, the way they gravitate towards each other is fantastic. There is no dependency issues here, they love each other and would do whatever is necessary to stay together in a healthy relationship. I LOVED that!!!!!
Terrance is a touchy subject with me, he is the good guy/bad guy kind of character and I certainly don’t know enough of him to feel the way I feel but I do like him very very much, I feel sorry for the things that happen to him and I definitely would love to see a happy ending for him.
I´ve always categorized my books and this one will, without a doubt fall into the hottest Supernatural men and yes I say this because of Dax and Christian.  OMG I could have drooled over them the whole book, they are sexy, mysterious and have a heart of gold that scores big time with me.  (Tish where can I get one of those?)
I won’t say a thing about the bad guy of this story cause that would be like a mayor spoiler on my part, so I will only say this, when things start to unravel my face was like this

All i can say is, that you guys need to pick up this book ASAP it´s great .
