Amazon Synopsis

Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor's edge of surrender.

Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can't afford because he has an agenda of his own—steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter—the love neither had thought possible.…

My Review

Have you ever watched “Gladiator”? Yeah I’m talking about Russell Crowe in all his warrior glory spilling blood and whatnot and the battle field.
Well this is better way better like a bazillion time’s better.
I love the Lords and this time around I got the opportunity to know more about Strider A.K.A. Defeat. I got to say that I didn´t care much about him at first, he was kinda annoying always outsmarting everyone else, or at least trying too, LOL!!! then I was kinda intrigued by the reason  Kaia wanted him so bad on the previous book and you know me, I had to know what that was about so I went and got The Darkest Surrender.
Boy am I Glad, I did!!!!!!!!!!
Stridey my man rocks, he´s by far my Favorite Lord, he´s sweet, caring, Dark and Dangerous all that wrapped up in a hot package Yummy!!!! Just my type of character.
Kaia is a Harpy and yes!!!, she presents herself as a confident, smartass, arrogant girl but deep down she´s as fragile as a newborn.
Kaia and her sisters are summoned to the Harpy Games (Think “300” the movie but bloodier) and there´s no way they can get out of it. Guilt and the will to redeem herself on the eyes of her race leads Kaia to front the most dangerous event on her life one that may very well be the very last for her; as she and her sisters are the main targets of the other clans due to a mistake that cause a death bath on the same games over a thousand years ago.
Strider fight his attraction to Kaia all the way but when he finds out what she´s up against runs to her aide and between the constant challenges to one another, the fighting and bickering a relationship forms and oh la la!!!!
This is a good read if you love the Lords you´ll love Strider, however this isn´t the best book I’ve read on this series, why? You may ask; well I hate to say this but there was too much telling and not enough showing.
There are a lot of scenes that are skipped and later on a character would just roam over it, the problem is that those scenes would have made this book so much better.
I hate spoilers so I won’t go there but the scenes that got whacked could have made the relationship between Kaia and Strider even stronger among other things.
All in all it wasn´t a blow my mind type of book but it was good, sexy and fun.
So if you love the Lords this is your chance click the link below and get it

  1. I absolutely loved Strider. When he talks to himself and to his "you know what" it makes me laugh. He's such an awesome and kick-ass lord, but sometimes he's just too cute!
