My Review
First of all i want to thank the mods on PNR & UF Fanatics who gave me this book as part of the R2R event.
I need to point out that I’ve read “Before” the prequel to “Masquerade” and I fell in love with the story from the start.

It’s a short story about Sam and some events that occur on Heven´s life.
The story line it´s so well developed that even though it´s just a couple of pages you understand perfectly everything that’s happening and at the same time gives you an extra pull to read masquerade.
Is one of the best prequels I’ve read.
The story centers around Hev a really beautiful girl both on the inside and out, that has the perfect life: lots of great friends, good grades a loving family, did I mention already that she is also cheerleader squad captain? No? Well there you go, she is no average Barbie she is super smart loving and caring; and one day her life fell apart.
She hides from herself and from the world and lives an empty life for a few months and then Sam appears.
I just loved Sam character he’s strong willed  and has a heart of gold, I loved the way the author plays with the concept of good an evil inside him; he isn´t the typical knight in shining armor that can´t do a thing wrong.
This book has strong content and really gory details about murders that take place alongside the story, I was shocked cause even though it really is very detailed (my stomach can´t take it)  it fits perfectly and it gave me a really good insight of the twisted mind of the villain of Masquerade.
The fact that the love story was extremely well developed earned a gazillion points on my part, the way Sam made his way into Hev´s heart was ideal and made me love this book even more; also there wasn´t just blind acceptance of the strange things happening around Hev, she wonders, thinks.  The girl has a mind of her own YAY!!!!!!! Long time no see!!!!!

The only thing that had me unsettled at first was the fact that she hides into herself from the world but when Sam arrives, she starts to hide behind Sam, that isn´t a healthy relationship at all, but, as the story progress she emerges from her cocoon and bam!!!, we have a heroine on our hands.
This is one of the best reads I’ve had in 2011 I can´t wait to read more of this story.

Airel By Aaron Patterson and Chris White Book Review

Format: Kindle Edition

File Size: 1134 KB

Print Length: 392 pages

Page Numbers Source ISBN: 0982607865

Publisher: StoneHouse Ink; 1 edition (April 26, 2011)

Genre: Young Adult

Language: English

ASIN: B004Y72XFA

About theAuthors:

Aaron Patterson is the author of the best-selling WJA series, as well as two Digital Shorts: 19 and The Craigslist Killer. He was home-schooled and grew up in the west.

Chris loves history, Sherlock Holmes, and anything that's not virtual, like old motorcycles and mechanical typewriters. He also doesn't get why we have these things called "smartphones" when all they do is make people dumber

Goodreads Synopsis

All Airel ever wanted was to be normal, to disappear into the crowd. But bloodlines can produce surprises, like an incredible ability to heal. Then there’s Michael Alexander, the new guy in school, who is impossibly gorgeous…and captivated by her. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she can hear the sound of pages turning, and another, older story being written. It is the story of an ancient family, of great warriors, of the Sword of Light, and the struggle against an evil so terrible, so far-reaching, that it threatens everything. Airel knew change would be an inevitable part of life. But can she hold on when murder and darkness begin to close in and take away everything she loves? Will she have what it takes when the truth is finally revealed?

My Review

First of all i have to say that i hate doing a bad review, but as you can see one of the authors of this book is in the best sellers list so, he should have know better.

I was expecting so much of this book that I have to say that I’m beyond disappointed with what I got.
Let’s talk about the bright side first.
The way the two writers mixed Kreios and Airel Stories was really good, I loved the way the present and the past mixed perfectly, the writting style is beautiful and this book is extremely well written.
the whole Angel Vs Demons, even though it has been done any number of times, in this book it had and unique an interesting quality to it, that for me was the book saver.
What I hated, the fact that the love story had no base what so ever. It was the same old: great character meets boy for half a second and she´s instantly in love and in doing so all the groove she has gets lost and she becomes a drooling morron over a guy that she doesn’t even know.
I too have to say that at least Airel knows how to fend for herself, but that aside she is the same character we have in lots and lots of PNR, nothing great.
Michael, I don’t know what to say about him simply because I know of him the same that Airel knows, that´s the same as nothing and just because of that I dislike him, cause the hole love story is based in a mayor plot hole.
Will I read the next one, maybe but only because I really liked Kim as a character and the way the book ended just didn´t sit right with me.
Overall I would give it maybe a 2.5 stars cause I did enjoy the Kreios part of the book.
by no means im saying people shouldnt read this book, please  dont take my word for it, go buy it an read it Airel wasn´t a good book for me, but maybe it will be for you.

My Review

This book brings a new element to the paranormal.
Jennet Carter is a VirtuMax Kid, being the daughter of a high rank Program-manager; she has always lived the wealthy life. Maids, chauffeur, housekeeper and access to the VirtuMax game novelties as a beta-tester.
That´s how she came face to face with Feyland a full Sim that´s been on development for years and while playing the game on her dad´s Full-D prototype, she discovered that Feyland was more real than anyone believed.
Fighting for what was lost at the game, she ends up living on Crestview where she meets Tam Lim, a young man with a Sim system won at the Tri-state simming tournament; who could be her last chance at life.
Feyland presents a fresh and new take on faerie, I loved this book,  it´s action packed but still retains a romantic quality to it.
Jennet and Tam are the cutest more different couple I’ve had the pleasure to read about, but those differences are what make them stronger, but the question remains; are they strong enough to partake on the realm of Faerie.
When I decided to read this book I knew that it wasn´t what I am accustomed to but I was very curious as to how Anthea Sharp was able to web the Faerie into a video game and bring it to life, all I can say is that I’m not disappointed, the plot is fresh and the way more interesting that I thought it would.
I loved the fact that Tam and Jennet come from totally different worlds and the way both of them learn to accept that and embrace does differences is something we all should do.
I even goggled some when I figured that this book is based on a legendary Scottish Ballad, which BTW is absolutely beautiful.
So guys if you like video games and are head over heels about Urban Fantasy, this is the book to look for, I truly believe that Feyland The Dark Realm, will be a hit once is out there. So run go grab your copy cause this book is put for sale today!!!!!!!!!!

Genre: Science Fiction
Reading Level: Upper Middle Grade (9-14 year olds)
Language: English

ISBN: 9780615524993

Publisher: Walking Stick Books

Published Date: August 13, 2011

Available Formats: Paperback, Ebook

 Summary:
Noah lives for piloting spaceships through time, dodging killer robots and saving Earth’s animals from extinction. Life couldn’t be better.

However, the twelve-year-old time traveler soon learns it could be a whole lot worse. His mom is abducted and taken to thirty-first century Mars; his dad becomes stranded in the Ice Age; and Noah is attacked at every turn by a foe bent on destroying a newly habitable, post-apocalyptic Earth.
Traveling through time in the family’s immense spaceship, Noah, a paraplegic from birth, must somehow care for the thousands of animals on board, while finding a way to rescue his parents. Along the way, he discovers his mother and father aren’t who he thought they were, and there is strength inside him he didn’t know he had.

My Review:

Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble is an upper middle grade, Science fiction book.
It´s written on first person (Noah´s point of view).
This book is light and fun, the plot moves at a fast but steady pace, its action packed and full of adventure.
It touches a lot of subjects form political views, to environmental stances; this book is the perfect companion for middle grade kids and their parents.
What I loved the most about this novel is the “don’t let disabilities hold you back” message. Noah is paraplegic, but that doesn’t hold him back, in fact that is what makes him stronger and ultimately gives him the ability to achieve anything that he set his eyes on.
Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble is a wonderful novel set in the future, that promises to keep young minds entertained while broadening their knowledge.
As a mother this is a book that I will certainly give my son to read, the message this book gives to our children is one of hope, of never giving up and fight for what is right.
I hope that parents and children alike dwell on the importance of taking care of our natural resources and the consequences our present treatment of our planet will have on the future. Spaceships and time traveling aside is this the kind of world we want to leave for our children or for their children.
This is the biggest accomplishment of this book, it makes people think and wonder; what can we do to make things right, to make things better?

THE AUTHOR

D. Robert Pease has been interested in creating worlds since childhood. From building in the sandbox behind his house, to drawing fantastical worlds with paper and pencil, there has hardly been a time he hasn't been off on some adventure in his mind, to the dismay of parents and teachers alike. Also, since the moment he could read, books have consumed vast swaths of his life. From The Mouse and the Motorcycle, to The Lord of the Rings, worlds just beyond reality have called to him like Homer's Sirens. It's not surprising then he chose to write stories of his own. Language: English

ISBN-10: 1937044742

ISBN-13: 978-1937044749

Release in Two Days!!!

About the Author:
Kelley was born and raised in central California, where she still resides with her lovely wife, daughter, and an abundance of pets. (Although she does fantasize about moving across the globe to Ireland.) She has a fascination with bells, adores all things furry - be them squeaky, barky or meow-y - is a lover of video games, manga and anime, and likes to pretend she's a decent photographer. Her life goal is to find a real unicorn. Or maybe a mermaid.

Within young adult, she enjoys writing and reading a variety of genres from contemporary with a unique twist, psychological thrillers, paranormal/urban fantasy and horror. She loves stories where character development takes center stage.

Goodreads Synopsis:
Eighteen-year-old Archer couldn’t protect his best friend, Vivian, from what happened when they were kids, so he’s never stopped trying to protect her from everything else. It doesn’t matter that Vivian only uses him when hopping from one toxic relationship to another—Archer is always there, waiting to be noticed.

Then along comes Evan, the only person who’s ever cared about Archer without a single string attached. The harder he falls for Evan, the more Archer sees Vivian for the manipulative hot-mess she really is.

But Viv has her hooks in deep, and when she finds out about the murders Archer’s committed and his relationship with Evan, she threatens to turn him in if she doesn’t get what she wants… And what she wants is Evan’s death, and for Archer to forfeit his last chance at redemption.

My Review
Guess what guys; I have on my hands another gem for you.
First of all I need to say that I loved the cover of this book, is very simple but yet it depicts exactly what this books is about.
When I read the synopsis for this book I was hooked, so much that when I had the opportunity to review it thanks to Fantasy and YA Addicted Book Group at GR, I jumped in the wagon super excited.
This book isn´t just a psychological thriller for me it’s THE psychological thriller of the year.
Archer as a character is very dark in nature all due to childhood traumas, that have forged the man he has become, and even though he is a killer, I couldn´t help but to sympathize with him and his struggle to become a decent human being.
Vivian is another tortured soul; the traumatic event that his brother forced her to endure changed her psyque forever, so much that she becomes a self-destructive person that wants nothing more than to drag Archer with her to the bottom of her abysm.
There are no words to describe Evan, he represents redemption, the ultimate chance Archer has at being normal, but the chances of Archer reaching that inner peace with Evan are highly at risk with Vivian Violent behavior on the loose.
This book was everything I expected and then some, it has everything it needs to keep you glued in your seat at the wee hours of the morning. I had no chance against the magnificent writing style and the constant apprehension I felt.
This book give us an amazing inside look at how posttraumatic stress disorder works, it´s so good that I couldn´t help but to cheer Archer on his quest and pray that at the end things might get better.
Other thing I loved about Hushed it´s the way it explores sexual Orientation, yes indeed Archer and Evan are both guys and their relationship is beautiful and perfectly created. I´m so happy that I had the chance to read this book, not many authors dwell on this type of subjects but Kelley York did, and she did it flawlessly.

Fledgling (Tri-Realms Saga Book #2) Book Review

Format: Kindle Edition

File Size: 336 KB

Sold by: Amazon Digital Services

Language: English

Source: K.C. King (In exchange of an honest review)

Genre: Paranormal Romance YA

ASIN: B0061FP4UY

Amazon Synopsis:

“Something deep within my core told me that my encounters with Hannah were more than random acts of chance: There was a higher purpose – a reason – that we were repeatedly being drawn together, and it was up to me to determine exactly what that was without risking her welfare. However, my greatest challenge to this rested with three of the most powerful guardians in the Tri-Realms. And they currently headed up the tree-lined drive towards me.”

When Bree Spencer fell in love with Sebastian Templeton, her life changed forever – and now she’s beginning to realise just how much. Caught between the demands of two, often contrary, worlds and the guidance of a most reluctant mentor, life as a fledgling is far more complicated than she ever could have imagined.

And it’s about to get a whole lot worse.

When Bree meets Hannah, she once again finds herself torn between what her temporal nature dictates and her ethereal vows demand. Only this time, her decision triggers a raft of consequences that will strike at the heart of everything she has ever known – including her relationships with the Scions who will one day reign supreme.

My Review:

The second installment on the Tri-Realms Saga is everything it promised to be and then some. We follow Bree and experience through her eyes how her world changed since Anomaly (Tri-Realms Saga Book #1) ended.
After reading the first book on this series, I was captivated by the new world K.C King gloriously created and I honestly thought that the second book was going to be epic, guess what? I was 100% right.
The plot is simply flawless, and the rhythm of the book is perfectly well balanced. The Way almost all the Characters develop is incredible.
I need to say I fell in love with Alaik, and even though he seems to have a hidden agenda and a dark nature, to me he´s simply alluring and at some point my view of him changed from an open dislike of him to an attraction that can only be described as the Bad Boy Syndrome, *fan myself and sight*
Sebastian is the only character that keeps the same through both books; his love or fascination for Bree simply exists, without any real reason at least to me. Don’t get me wrong I like the guy I just feel he is flat and at some points boring, but hey his hotness can still go a long way with me lol!!!
Note to self: reading the paragraphs above I realized I’m totally Team Alaik lol!!! Anyway…
The originality of this series is the reason I’m officially a fan of K.C. King, her way with words and her vivid imagination brought to life a very powerful story about love, betrayals, past errors and life changing decisions that is sure to have Paranormal Romance fans glued to their seats.

About the Author:

Krystle Jones was born and raised in the small, southern town of Tullahoma, Tennessee. Reading and writing have been lifelong passions of hers. In addition to being a novelist, she is also an award-winning flutist, and moonlights as a voice actress. Her voice can be heard in the popular online game, Alice is Dead 3.

Goodreads Synopsis:

After the Eclipse – the night vampires began openly slaughtering human victims – everything changed. Out of fear, the government salvaged what remained of the human population and enclosed them in massive, security-laden cities called White Sectors, while marking the vampire infested territory as Red Sectors.

When seventeen-year-old Sloane McAllister’s twin brother disappears, she seems to be the only one who thinks he isn’t dead, and vows to stop at nothing to find him. Gathering her courage, she braves the Red Sector to search for clues to his whereabouts. By chance, she encounters Aden, a handsome, charismatic vampire with a hidden agenda. He turns Sloane against her will, and whisks her away to his underground city. Enemies quickly become friends as Sloane struggles against her attraction to Aden, and resists her growing loyalties to the creatures that ruined her life. But the vampires themselves are the least of her problems. The city is harboring a devastating secret, one that could change the tide of the war and threaten to destroy everything Sloane has come to believe in.

My Review

I want to thank the mods. at Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Fanatics for the amazing work they do at the R2R (Read to Review).
Thanks to that work ,Indie Authors have a space where they can share their books.
That is the case with The Scarlet Dagger.
We meet Sloane a 17 year old girl, who lost part of her family a year back, in a series of unfortunate events. Her twin Orion is presumed dead, killed by Vampires on hallows eve; she starts a quest that will change her life forever.
This book as a whole has a lot of potential, the plot is good but still has some weak spots here and there, the description of the characters is amazing, but sometimes it doesn´t agrees with what the characters actually do. The side characters are likeable but aren´t explored enough.
The prose is good and the plot is very entertaining and even though the general concept of the book has been done any number of times, Krystle´s has uniqueness.
Other thing I found is that at times the author tells instead of shows information, but this issue can also be fixed and even though it´s somewhat distracting it doesn´t lessen the overall impact of the story.
I loved the fact that Slone isn´t the damsel in distress type, she is certainly able to fend for herself, but still accepts the fact that she can´t do everything on her own. She is a strong character and some of her comeback lines are simply amazing.
Aden is still kind of an unknown to me, he is the male lead on this book, and I feel he could have been developed a little further; but still is quite endearing; he has this kind of man/boy feel to him that is quite catching. Between you and me, sometimes I even drooled a little over him, lol!!!
The best part of this book is the villain, I definitively didn´t see that one coming, the fact that the author managed to go through the story without leaving so much of a hint of who he is, was astonishing.
All in all this is a very interesting book, that just needs a little polishing here and there but it certainly has the basis for an epic series.

Anomaly(Tri-Realms Saga: Book One) by K.C. King BOOK REVIEW

Format: Kindle Edition
File Size: 431 KB

Sold by: Amazon Digital Services

Language: English

Genre: Paranormal Romance

ASIN: B005ZVBFK8

About the Author:

K.C. King's love affair with books began with Charlotte's Web when she was eight. A true Aquarian, she's a dreamer whose John Grisham obsession resulted in her choice to study linguistics and law. When she's not travelling or enjoying cappuccinos in kangaroo cups, you'll probably find her in her own world: Somewhere between Metropolis and Austen's 19th Century England

Amazon Synopsis

“I was transfixed as I watched him; his skin was simply luminous in the sunlight, yet not a bead of sweat sheened his face. I could have remained entranced by him for hours, for in this state he was simply magnificent, almost – supernatural.”

22-year-old Bree Spencer hates prejudice of all kinds – especially the blatant elitism she is subjected to as a resident staffer at her aunt’s exclusive estate, Blackall Manor. So when Bree nearly winds up as road-kill on account of the wealthy Sebastian Templeton, she struggles to reconcile her inexplicable attraction to him. On the surface Sebastian epitomises all that Bree usually despises, yet her draw to him is irrefutable.

Events become decidedly more unusual upon Sebastian’s arrival as a guest at Blackall Manor. Despite her reservations, Bree finds Sebastian intriguing; but his insistence to get to know her triggers a raft of niggling suspicions – heightened by a series of strange dreams and phenomena – until eventually, she learns the truth.

Sebastian is a guardian, a powerful descendant of a sacred ethereal line; and Bree’s uncanny gift has prompted him to find her. But while an anomaly inspired their connection, an ancient prophecy and ethereal lore forbid it. And with Sebastian’s purist brother determined to honour both at any cost, an epic battle with unthinkable stakes could be Bree’s only chance at survival.

My Review

When we talk about paranormal romance the beings that come to mind are usually Vampires, Werewolves, Angels, ghosts and even zombies. When I heard that this book was indeed Paranormal Romance but none of those where present my first thought was “How does K.C. King is going to pull this off?”
Guess what, she introduced Guardians, Ethereals and Elementals. What do they do? You may ask, well, they are in charge of keeping the balance among all living forces and are the hottest, cutest, most charming and interesting beings I’ve read about.
Through the book we follow Bree a young woman who lives with her Aunt due to tragic circumstances and ends up working at Blackall Manor, where she gets the chance to get to know Sebastian after he almost ran her over and suddenly her world is turned upside down.
K.C. King has an extraordinary eye for detail, so much that you can practically feel the wind and smell the ocean with the turn of a page.
This book had me glued to my sofa until 2 am, I swear the author is a walking thesaurus; the way this book is written is like reading Emily Dickinson but with supernatural beings parading through the pages, simply astonishing.
The plot is magnificent; it has the perfect rhythm and the romantic web she weaves traps you as soon as it starts.
The female character is strong and confident and doesn´t fear to take matters into her on hands, Sebastian is chivalrous and at the same time understands and supports Bree´s need to be independent and self-sufficient.
I loved this book, it left me wishing the book was longer or having the second installment so I could keep reading nonstop.
This is the kind of book that makes knees go weak and hearts beating irregularly.
But please guys don’t take my word for it, go and read it I swear you won’t be disappointed.
This is the easiest 5 start plus rate I’ve done, if I could give this book a million stars rating I would it´s definitively that good.
