Wishlist Wednesday is a Book Blog Hop hosted by Pen to paper
The point is to post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

So what do you need to do to join in?

  • Pick a book from your wishlist that you are dying to get to put on your shelves.
  • Do a post telling your readers about the book and why it's on your wishlist.

The Dark Surrender By Gena Showalter
Goodreads Synopsis

Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor's edge of surrender.Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can't afford because he has an agenda of his own-steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter-the love neither had thought possible.

  1. A harpy? I always kinda liked the harpies in the Xanth fantasy series. They were 'foul' mouthed but always bleeped by the censor. Xanth is a magical land of puns in case you aren't familiar with it.

I burnt myself out on Romance just before the paranormal subgenre got big so haven't dabbled much-- If I see this one I'll check it out though. The cover is quite intriguing. ;o)

  3. Xanth is very tame by paranormal romance standards but there are 30+ books in the series so pretty epic in that regard! haha
It is very punny-- no good pun or groaner gets left behind. Not a lot of people's cuppa, I'm sure but it is all good silly fun-- I mean pun.
