All Godly things must come to an end and in this case, I´m talking about the covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Sentinel The Final book on this series Is just around the corner (Nov 2nd) and I´m dying to know how it all ends. At the same time I feel sad, I´ve invested a long time and emotion on this series and seeing it come to an ends it´s hard. lets call this a bitter sweet moment.

 

 

This series has made me laugh, cringe and cry, I´ve drooled over, loved and hated some of the characters, and as a truly book lover I can say that this is what makes a book or a series stand out. When you get so immersed in the story that you feel that what is happening happens to you and affects you on an emotional level.

That's why today I´m going to take you guys on a journey through the book that was a deal breaker for me. It´s not my favorite book on the series but is the one that made fall for one of the characters and changed my previous views of others.

so today on my blog we are going to go over...

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex. 
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.

Elixir is a small Novella (74 pages long) but it is every bit as intense as all the book in this series. It changed my views. Being 100% honest up to this book I wasn´t Team Aiden, I was a sucker for Seth, troubled bad boy Seth had my heart and I always said I liked him better that he was a good guy and I was sure that he was the right choice for Alex.

 

Then... I read Elixir.

 

From that point forward Seth became the focus of my anger and disappointment, he wasn't even close to the man I thought he was. Aiden became the glue that held everything together and suddenly I understood why.

 

He balance Alex, he is her perfect opposite and is willing to sacrifice everything and more to see her happy, to see her safe. He hurts, he cries and fights with nails and teeth to be a man of honor, he makes Alex a better person, she makes him a better person.

So, as part of my post I´m going to show you my favorite Quotes from Elixir. here we go...

I moved so fast I Startled her. My hands shot through the bars, clasping the sides of her face. My forehead pressed against the cold bars and my lips were on hers. The kiss was hard and fast. Angry. Desperate. She went still unsure of how to respond. "Because I love you, I won´t release you"

 

This scenes where the hardest for me seeing the pain it caused Aiden to have her in a cell but having to keep her there for her own safety. How her words made the deepest wounds and see him struggle to contain himself.

 

"You don´t know shit. You sure as hell don't know the lengths I will go to keep her safe" I dropped him and he slumped against the wall. "and if that means killing one half-blood to make sure nothing happens to her, I won´t hesitate."

 

Protectiveness and desperation. My heart broke a little every time he had to turn his back on his friends for her, always for her. what he went through in this book was a nightmare but only he was strong enough to pull through.

 

Pain Sliced through my chest. "My name is Aiden..." I choked as the back of my throat burned. wetness gathered in my eyes, clouding Alex´s face. The words burst out of me "My name is Aiden, and I am your master" "You will obey my every wish, desire and command to death"

One of the things I admired the most about Aiden was his strength, cause although causing Alex any kind of harm is against his nature and his love for her, if it needs to be done in order to help her he´s willing to crush his soul and rip his heart out.

I stood before them. "The only way for Alex to break the connection is for her to do so herself. No one - no god, no magic- can do it. She has to. And I believe she can if the chance"

Aiden´s trust in Alex opened my eyes to what he is really about. His will to fight for her even against herself, his unconditional love and  his hope that , their love is strong enough to conquer even the impossible, showed me his true  colors and opened my eyes to the true nature of Seth.

After writing the series from Alex’s POV, what challenges did you face writing from Aiden’s POV in Elixir?  

It was hard to get into Aiden’s head because he was more of a challenge to write than I anticipated.

 

For Alex

Um…seriously girl, if I ever hear “My Seth” again, I may puke.  Is there anything about that time that you want to remember?  

No.  Well, except Aiden because he believed in me. 

 

For Aiden

Where does your strength come from? Standing up to Alex and even the Gods, you were a rock during Elixir.  How did you do it?  

It was all for Alex.  I love her and I wasn’t giving up.

 

For Seth

During the time where you didn’t know where Alex was, what were you doing to find her?  

Everything.  I was gonna find her.

Many readers know that the first sentence in a book often sets the tone for the whole, being able to trap your readers fro the first line is an art that not all Authors have, but the ones that do, excel at it. H.D. is one of those Authors.

Gotta admit that it rises a huge amount of questions, so what happens next?? well you have to read the whole thing cause dammit you need to know why that woman was screaming... LOL!!! Yeah I know, I´m a bookworm and I´m fangirling... but at least I´m trying to be clever about it. cause a I realized that a whole review full of SQUEEE or AWWW wouldn´t do =D

 

H.D. Gordon is the master of plot twist and oh boy oh boy!! this book is by far 100% better than Shooting Stars (Book 1) it´s amazing how easily the author can create such an intricate story full of emotion,, you name it this book has it.

 

Shooting stars was an A+ book for a first in a series it was fantastic, and surely the best book I had read from this author, but dam Falling stars it´s way, way better, no easy thing to do, cause lets face it, the second book on a series almost always sucks and if not it´s filled with so much info that lacks on everything else. I can promise you that this is not the case here. This is the best second book I´ve ever, ever read.

 

Surah is the strongest chick I know, she knows what to do and when it needs to be done, she is not afraid to speak her mind and can kick ass like no one else can, but at the same time she´s a very fragile feminine thing. Seeing her try to figure out what she feels for Charlie was amazing cause it presents you with an opportunity to really get to know her and I couldn´t help but to like her even more than I already did. Come on who doesn´t love a super kick ass chick.

and Charlie oh sweet hawt amazing, drool worthy Charlie!!

"When that happened, when he kissed her that way, all that existed was Charlie"

 

No shit really???, damm at least she still had some thought process cause I would be fried LOL!!! he´s perfect, there´s no other way to describe it, he´s perfect for Surah In all ways, he´s protective of her but understanding of her strength and he´s man enough to know she´s a kick ass ninja woman but a woman non the less.

and here is the name that defines perfection for me, this is what makes this book what it is, the character that has me drooling for the next book and dying to read this one again just because, he is in there.

let me tell you guys you haven´t read a book like this, that ending was just... I can´t begging to express how affected I am it physically hurt to finish the book and I had to read the last chapter twice cause I was well... I wasn't doing so great LOL!!!

H.D. Gordon is an Evil master mind, yes you  heard me, one second she makes you fly and you feel like you can touch the stars and the next the rug is pulled beneath your feet and your falling, crashing, bone´s breaking and all that Jazz.

there are no words to describe all that happens, but this title will rock your world!!!!

I´ve been a fan of this series since the first book, Alexa´s struggle, her strength, her love for her sister and her willfulness to risk everything to help the people she loves the most, trapped me from the start.

 

At some point between the books it stopped being just a series I loved, but something I looked forward to, something to wait for, like those WoW(Waiting on Wednesday) posts you see around but instead of waiting to read a good book, it was more like that feeling you get when your best friend or your sister comes visit after too much time apart; Anxiety, sweaty hands , nerves and a sense of exhilaration.

 

Alexa, Nelly and Kayden became a family of sorts to me, one that I looked forward to see and now my family is gone.

 

 

Their story has finally come to an end and between my cries and sobs I can honestly say, that I wouldn´t want it any other way.

Redemption as a series finale is in one word PERFECT!!!, there´s no other way to describe it, it´s just perfect. H.D. Gordon somehow manages to make you fly as high as the moon one page and makes you beg for mercy while tearing you to shreds on the next.

 

I was glued to these pages until the wee hours of the night, I reread the ending more times that I can count, I cried, grieved, smiled and then after everything was said and done and the last page was turned, all I could think of was “I wouldn´t want it any other way”

 

Alexa´s journey was like a rollercoaster, more so in this book than any other; her life and every life around her are changed, touched, in some way or another by the events in this book.

 

Kayden sweet, sexy, powerful, lovable, one of a kind warrior; he´s as always, the person/character that I would like to stand beside me in battle, cause if Kayden, the Libra, the Brocken, stands beside you; you know you are standing up for something worth fighting for. That’s how Alexa feels anyway and damm, was that girl right about that.

 

Their love story, is the kind of story that transcends time and as I read the pages, I realized that their story couldn´t have been better or stronger than what it is.

 

H.D. Gordon is the brightest star among the Indie Authors I admire and love, her work is flawless and filled with the passion of someone that actually loves what she´s doing; she wrapped up every single side story, left no unanswered questions and managed to do what every author out there wishes to do; she created the best, thought through, executed, emotionally charged Series Finale ever.

 

Redemption is the kind of book that will be on my mind for time and time to come. Am I glad that The Alexa Montgomery Saga has come to an end???... NO!!! but… all good things have to end; as my favorite Brocken said when speaking about death:

 

“death is inevitable for everything that lives.” “But everything that has a life must lose it eventually. What matters is that it was a life worth living.”

 

Which made me wonder was this series worth reading??? YES, 1000 times yes and so, it has come to an end.

 

I´m sad but at the same time, I´m glad that now I´ll get the chance to read about new people, new lives, new worlds. I´m not sure what is instore for me; the only thing I´m sure of is that if H.D. Gordon writes it, is going to be another magnificent piece of art, Like:

Hi H.D Welcome to Book Addict, I’m so happy to have the opportunity to talk with you for a bit. I know how busy you are now that Redemption, the final book on The Alexa Montgomery Saga Is done.

How do you feel? Are you going to Miss Alexa or do you have other projects where she might pop up?
 

I feel good. I couldn’t be more pleased with how the story ended. I think it’s among my best work yet. I will miss her, yeah, but she never has to leave me if I don’t want her to, and I’m looking forward to other horizons ahead. But, it is bitter sweat. We had a good time, Alexa and I.

 

1.       How would you describe Redemption?
 

It’s a love story. A story about sacrifice and loss and strength. I think it is a tale that dates back a long time, just told in a new way, with creatures who can seem quite human and killers that can be heroes.
 

2.       Which character you had most fun writing?
 

I enjoyed them all. But if I had to choose, Alexa’s Monster would be my fav.
 

3.       Do you have any actor or actress in mind that would be the perfect to play Alexa or Kayden?
 

Oh, I wish. But, honestly, not really. They became too real for that, meaning they were unique to anyone I’ve ever seen. They were just them, so I have a hard time picturing someone famous who would work. I’m sure they’re out there, though. I hope I see them someday.
 

4.       Who is your favorite character in your book?
 

Alexa. It’s her story. I lived most of it through her. She held my hand most of the way.
 

5.       What was your main source of inspiration for the story?
 

I had been reading a lot of fantasy, and there were some really good books, but after a while, if you only read in one genre, you come across a lot of crappy books, too. As a writer, this can make you feel like you could do better, and I thought that if someone wasn’t going to create the world I wanted to live in for me, I would create it for myself. A scene came to me then, and that was when I met Alexa.
 

6.       What should readers expect from Redemption?
 

I don’t think they should go in expecting anything at all. I like to deal in the unexpected.  

7.       What was the book that most influenced your life — and why?

Ooo, too many to count. I can’t pick just one. But I’ll narrow it to a reasonable amount, in the order that I read them…Edgar Allen Poe’s collection of stories and poems, the entire Goosebumps series by R. L. Stine, and The Shining, The Stand and The Green Mile by the King. I love Stephen King.

8.       If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything about the Saga?

Course not. No regrets, baby.

9.       What are you reading right now?

Under the Dome by—you guessed it, King.

10.    Which writer would you consider a mentor?

Hehe. Do I really have to say it?

11.    What are your current projects?

The spin-off of the Alexa Series and wherever the wind takes me. I’m going to jump around outside the box.

12.    Is it sad to see the Saga end?

Bitter sweat. I have good memories when I look back at writing these books, and I hope the readers share that sentiment, but I am ready to move on and try new things.
