The Bringer by Samantha Towle BOOK REVIEW

File Size: 343 Kb
Format: Kindle Edition
Publisher: Night Publishing
Release Date: May 4th 2011
Language: English

About the Author:
Samantha Towle lives in Yorkshire with her husband her two children a cat and a dog, She is the youngest of four daughters and loves music.

her first book The Bringer was published on May 4th of 2011 her second book A Single Bite willbe released later on this year.

Goodreads Synopsis

Death is sad, love is agony.

Max was her next job. She got his name just before he died and it was for her to lead his soul to heaven. She was a Bringer.

Then Max started pleading (as they often do), but not for himself, for his son, James.

Would she look after him, would she comfort him as he grieved for the loss of his father? James was a sensitive young man. He would take his father's death very hard.

Well, Bringers don't do that sort of thing; their exclusive role is to usher souls to heaven. They are not allowed to get involved in earthly affairs.

However, when she saw James, she felt something she had never felt before - an emotion, a shock.

She was a Bringer. Bringers do not have emotions.

Yet she couldn't help herself. She found herself being drawn inexorably towards James and his life, against every instinct she had ever had, against every law of the universe.

And she fell in love.

For a Bringer, that is a terrifying fall.

My Review

I have to say, that angel have never being my thing, I tend to look away when I find a book  and the plot is about angels, that being said I’m really glad I had the opportunity to read The Bringer.

The plot is amazing Lucyna is a bringer, and she among others has the job to guide the souls of the recently demised to heaven.  She has a lot of questions and longings buried deep within her and most important of all she has no feelings cause bringers can´t feel.

The way the story develops has a steady rhythm to it, and even thou we are constantly in her head hearing all her ramblings, she isn´t boring, at times I even found funny how the little things we give for granted are so spectacular for her.

James is a young man that recently lost his father and is grief stricken, Lucyna takes into herself the duty to watch over him and she suddenly  realize that she isn´t as insensitive as she thought.

Long story short some things happens and she finds herself human an within reach of James, the way their relationship develops is great, there´s no rush, no we are meant to be, just a plain we get to know each other and fall in love as it should be and I really loved that about this story.

The bad guy at this story had  me jumping a time or two, I couldn´t believe the things he did and I won’t write more about it cause I would need to write spoilers and I really hate that, so all I’m going to say that it´s a great strong character with an evil twisting and sick mind.

I won’t say the book is perfect it does have misspells and grammar issues here and there but other than that the plot is great and is capable to take you in a beautiful ride into Angel land, which I didn´t expected  to like much less love and here I am drooling over it.

I really hope that Samantha Towle gets published, the way she writes is beautiful she mixes modern and old language but in a very new and cool way, plus I find the British accent super sexy and I could almost hear James talking and I melted along with Lucyna.

I´m certain that once she gets her chance Samantha Towle will, without a doubt on my part; become one of the Great ones on PNR history.

I gave this book a 4 star rating just for the mistakes I found but other than that,  guys you should totally check this book out ASAP

Meet the Author of "The Kiss of a Vampire the Heart of a Wolf"

I was contacted by Samantha Bates, asking me if I wanted to read the third installment on her Silver Series and as u can see I said hell yeah!!!
So I read the book and asked Sam If she was willing to be interviewed by my inexperienced self and she said yes!!!!! So here is the interview

Tell us something about your self

Well let me try and make myself seem interesting. I have three wonderful albeit sometimes crazy daughters; they are very funny and sweet, yet at times they drive me insane. I have been happily married for twelve years and yes I do know that if I had murdered someone I would have had time off for good behavior and would by now be free. In fairness I am not sure how my husband has not only put up with me, but has also remained supportive.
In addition to the writing I also have a fulltime job, I am a practicing child protection Social Worker which means that most of my day is serious and intensive. That being said I love my work and never cease to be amazed at how interesting each day is.

When and why did you begin writing?

In March my family and I faced a huge change, when we moved from the UK to Australia. The lifestyle here is very different to what I have been used to, the pressures very different. For the first time in a long time I had time to do something I wanted, something I enjoyed.
I started writing my first book seriously in March, although I toyed with several ideas for about 6 months before that.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I have always been a day dreamer and thought maybe I could do something with this.
I have read across many genres and although I have enjoyed most of them I always return to romance. Paranormal Romance is a genre I only really started reading about 2 years ago. I love the freedom this genre gives; you have the chance to really use your imagination.
When I first decided to write a book I knew I wanted it to be a paranormal romance, but I was so conscious of other peoples work and really didn’t want to duplicate it. There are so many good books out there I wanted to do something a little different. I have had so much fun; it’s been an amazing experience.

How did you come up with the title?

Rather than start with vampires I wanted to start the series with wolves, they are big and strong animals, yet look sweet and adorable. When I think of wolf shifters, I automatically think of gorgeous, huge, sexy and strong characters. I love a strong male.
When I picture a wolf in my head, the image is sleek and silver, hence The Silver wolf pack. The strongest in the pack is always the Alpha, and the result SILVERS ALPHA.

Who designed the covers?

For me the covers were hard and to be honest I am still not completely satisfied with them, I have now changed them several times. I wanted the whole book to be my own creation but things like Copyrights, formatting, Photoshop and gimp just make my brain explode. However I don’t give up and am determined that one day (possibly before I retire) I will create a professional completely original cover.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I don’t know if there is a message as such, I just love a happily ever after. I have read some fantastic novels with sad endings, Nicholas Sparks comes to mind. Although I enjoy them I always have to follow with a novel that is guaranteed to have a happy ending.
I also like the notion that good triumphs evil, an order in the world and what doesn’t break us makes us stronger. I hope my novels portray this.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Oh god, that easy, remembering descriptions and minor characters. I started with the main characters and introduced others throughout, but later on I would forget their names or add different descriptions. By the time I started the second book I had to go back through the first and write down all of the characters and descriptions.
To make it easier I have named some of the characters after people I know, for example, the boys Ben and Lucky have are named after my nephews, one of Lucky's daughters is name after my niece, a baby born in the second book is named after my newest nephew.
I have to say I have not named any of the children after my own, mainly because these characters will eventually warrant a book of their own and writing sex scenes with characters named after my children has too much of a icky factor.

Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

The one thing I have realized is that if you want something enough you can achieve anything. I was really self-conscious about the writing and to an extent I still am, however my confidence is growing and making me feel more daring, it's very exciting.
Only yesterday I found a thread on Amazon about the Silver Series, it was really positive, I actually checked the readers profile to make sure it wasn’t a family member trying to make me feel good, I was really happy when I realized I had no idea who this person was.

What are your current projects?

Oh this is a good question, at this moment I am writing Darius' story, this involves him reflecting back on his life. There are a few interesting things about Darius we have yet to learn, in fact some of them I don’t yet know.
I have plans to continue the series, I already have some interesting ideas and characters to develop including -
* Vlad * Ice * Shaun * Mitch * Beth * Claire * May * Ellie
However I would be interested to know if readers would like to other characters to develop.
In addition to this my two youngest daughters would like me to write something for their age. My mother has asked me to write something without weird things (vampires, wolves, witches etc), what she would like is a really nice romance with no sex, not sure if I can do that; the sex is half the fun. So at some point I may need to divert for a little while.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

I will list some of my favorite authors, however I am not sure how new they are, in fact some aren’t. However when I look for a book I don’t really check out whether they are new, I am looking for something to grab my interest.
My favorite PNR author has to be Sherrilyn Kenyon, predominantly because of Acheron's story; her portrayal of his past was truly amazing.
Stephanie Meyer, my daughter got me into to Twilight Saga and I was well and truly hooked. This was the first PNR series I read. In addition I really enjoyed books by,
*J.R. Ward * Christine Feehan * Christina Dodds * Richelle Mead
There are many more who I will remember as soon as this is posted.

What books have most influenced your life?

I have to say the first adult books I read were Catherine Cookson and Danielle Steel, mainly because my mother collected them and I started borrowing them. Danielle Steel made me cry so much, no-one ever died in Enid Blyton books, I think I should have received counseling to prepare me for this!!!!!
Also inspirational to me was the Diary of Anne Frank, to have someone’s life documented in such an innocent format was truly amazing. I have also read many of stories people have written about their life, their suffering and their triumphs, these are truly inspiring and moving.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

I am not really sure; I think I take something new from every experience I have both in reading, writing and life.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about his/her work?

I tend to go through phases and genres:
Fictional crime, Jonathan Kellerman and Patricia Cornwall
The rich and Famous, Jackie Collins
Romance, Danielle Steel
Historical Romance, Catherine Cookson
YA PNR, Stephanie Myers
Children’s, Ronald Dahl, Enid Blyton
Erotica, Black Lace Books
Plays, William Shakespeare
Drama, Harper Lee

What book are you reading now?

I am not actually in the middle of reading anything at the minute; I am too busy working and then writing book 4 in the Silver Series. However I have recently read To Kill a Mocking Bird, I only read this to understand what my daughter was doing for a school project. There is a reason this book is a classic, I really enjoyed this and would recommend it.

Do you have a specific writing style?

I have no formal training in writing novels, when I started I changed the style several times. Eventually I wrote from the perspective of the two main characters. I tried focusing on one but then felt like I was cheating the other character. I hope this works well, I have recently had someone comment that they loved the writing style and hoped it continued, which I plan to.

That´s it for the interview guys, hope u check out her 3 books they´re for sale on amazon.

Thx so much for Samantha Bates for all the time she spend answering my Q´s

Theo and Imogen finally progress their relationship but when Imogen finds the strength and courage to live life again, she is attacked by vampires. Her life yet again is out of her control, everything has changed, and she has changed. The love she has for Theo is unquestionable but she needs to find herself again.

Each has to face their own personal demons, but will they survive long enough to love and be loved by the other?

My Review:

The past has come to haunt both of them, childhood trauma and terrible experiences, has mede them into who they are, but through the whole book one question remained with me, are they strong enough?

The third installment on the Silver Series has finally arrived and it was absolutely adorable.
In this book we take a dive at Theo and Imogen´s story.

This book is by far one of the best on the silver series, the world Samantha Bates has created is unique, it has a lot of potential, and the mythological aspects of the book, are funny and very interesting.

Imogen is a troubled woman who learnes lo accept herself through the pages and u can actually see and feel how she matures and develops a sense of herself and her capabilities.

Theo is a strong wolf, head of security at pack land, over confident of himself but not others, his journey to comprehension that family sticks together, that blood do calls and love conquers all; was very exciting.

Will Theo realize that being in a pack means not to be alone again?
Will Imogen figure out that things are not always what they seem?
Will they grow together or apart?

Guess u guys will have to read this book to answer that lol!!!!!

Her Dark Destiny by Dave Ferraro

Format: Ebook

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Publisher: Self Published (Oct 07 2011)

Language: English

Rating: 5+ out of 5

Goodreads Synopsis

Teenager Shanna Hunt has been hunting demons since her parents were murdered by them. She's used to doing things alone, her own way, but one fateful night throws her into the company of a team of hunters, each specializing in a particular kind of monster: vampires, werewolves, witches, shape-shifters... This newly-formed team should be an unstoppable force for whatever is out there picking off individual hunters across the globe, but their first battle together against the monsters of the night could be their last.

My Review

I had huge expectations for this book and I find myself very very pleased by it.
Her Dark destiny  is an Epic book, it has every single paranormal element I could think of and then some.
Shanna Hunt a young woman, witness to her parents murder by Demons, finds herself part of a world she didn´t knew existed until that day and because of that she becomes a hunter.
At first I was worried about the book being to Buffy for me, but actually it was amazingly good, it´s funny and fresh it has some romance elements, but to me this is Urban Fantasy to its finest.
The characters are unique, each and every one has personality and spark, and the fact that we get to know the inner turmoil of each one, at first was confusing but in the end help to build a feeling of bonding with each and every one of them.
What I liked the most about this book plot aside, was the way Dave Ferraro eased into Homosexuality, Jade is a strong and confident woman who loves and embraces herself for who she is. I loved her character and her “yeah I´m gay, I don´t have a problem with it so why should you?” attitude.
So in one word this book is awesome, intriguing, Epic, magnificent *Uh, that´s more than one word isn´t it?*
You guys should be on smashwords right know… you still here?, mmm come on guys  hahaha
This is another five star plus muahahahahaha I loved it

Amazon Synopsis

Rose Frost receives a bracelet on her sixteenth birthday, a parting gift from her mother who claims it is a family heirloom. From that night Rose starts having vivid dreams and strange visions.

Days after, her family separate and Rose moves into her grandmother's house. Rose remembers happy childhood holidays with her grandmother, and is eager to rekindle her friendship with Hannah and Mira, the two girls she played with as a child. Rose's dreams start to involve a woman called Halíka Dacomé. A legend or a figment of her imagination, she knows not, but her grandmother, Daisy, remains reluctant to talk it.

Danger strikes one night. Rose is first on the scene after she smells burning and discovers a car that has been purposely set on fire. She is convinced that the boy in her latest vision is inside the car. The mysterious Aiden Deverill pulls Rose to safety, but not before a window explodes and a ball of fire burns them both. She uses her secret healing gift to heal the scars and to all appearances remains unscathed.
But Aiden is free from burns too and Rose doesn't know why.
She is drawn to his alluring smile, his gorgeous dark looks and hypnotizing blue eyes, but as they get closer her friends warn her off claiming that he's bad news.

Rose tries to find the truth about Halika Dacomé and more about why Aiden is so disliked, but she soon gets drawn into helping her friends solve the mystery behind the missing Warminster townsfolk. The latest missing person is her new friend Jez's father.

During the investigation she meets Morgan, a family friend of Daisy's who lives in the cottage at the bottom of Daisy's garden. He's kind, funny and clearly devoted to her, but Rose finds out that his hatred towards Aiden and his grandfather, Ben Deverill, lies rooted in a shocking event that happened years before involving both families.

For Rose, her new life is beginning but she soon realizes that people are not always what they seem, and finds it difficult to determine who to trust.

What she always believed to be a happy family and a friendly town soon turns on its head when she discovers that her family secret, Aiden Deverill and the truth behind Halíka Dacomé is at the heart of the whole conspiracy.

Review:

Alexandra May has definitely a way with words, she´s overly descriptive but in a good way, she makes you visualize exactly what she wants, you basically can see, smell feel everything Rose does and that helps a lot in a book like this.
Elemental is a book charged with information from cover to cover we are bombarded with what I guess are the basics for the series that May is going to develop.

Rose is a vibrant young girl who goes to live with her grandmother in a small and UFO friendly town there she starts having strange and vivid dreams about a woman she has never met but feels very familiar with.

She meets Aiden and at first she feels repelled by him but he starts gaining her trust and ignites a spark of something unknown within her that compelled her to stay close to him even thou everyone thinks  he´s bad news.

Morgan is a boy that lives at a cottage near Daisy´s house (Rose Grandmother) and he´s been waiting for her his entire life, such a dependable, trust worthy boy, every one Said to her, and she instantly feels the romantic connection towards him.

But things are not always what they seem, and suddenly she´s knees deep in problems and strange occurrences.

I liked this book very much; it has a very nice rhythm to it and the way May emphasizes that friendship and trust, among other things, have to be gained but easily lost; is a twist to the most common instant love and friendship we find in almost every book nowadays.

That being said the reason I only rated it 3 out 5 stars is because I felt that the way she accepted the truth about what happened around her and to her, was too easy, she´s described through the book as a very outspoken, strong, confident but most of all a person that doesn´t gives her trust easily, but when someone comes to her with shocking, earthmoving and life changing news, she´s like “ok” , and THAT I didn´t buy.

So that´s why 3 out of 5 is all it´s going to get, other than that I liked it.

Give a Fairy Tale by L.K. Rigel BOOK REVIEW

This book was absolutely adorable.

First of all I want to point out that the witting style it´s so different to what I’m accustomed to, that it was refreshing and a great part of why I loved this book so much.

The story in itself is full of magic and wonders and was very easy at least for me to get lost in it, almost since the start.

Lilith is a lovely character with her ups and downs and human imperfections and at the same time her supernatural quality sparkles here and there through the book.

L.K. Rigel is a wonderful storyteller, the fact that she could take us so easily between present day and past, it´s a wonder in itself, cause that’s not an easy feat to accomplish, and it work perfectly to enclose the story and the feel of it.

Give a Fairy Tale is not just a love story, is a story of present and past love, a story of envy and human nature, is the love story that we all should feel at least once in a lifetime.

I look forward to read more of the Fae world that was so easily described in this book.

This book should be a six star but hey that´s not possible, but since is my blog and I can do what I want im rating this a five star plus just cause I can hahahahaha.

Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer BOOK REVIEW

I don´t have words to describe this book, it was everything I hoped for and then some.

I couldn´t help but get caught up in this book so much that I when I looked up from it last night it was 3 am, and my first thought was “Hell I’ll be drinking lots of coffee tomorrow at work” and then I looked down and… yeah you got it!!! I kept reading.

Calla´s journey through the new world she experience and the palpable knowledge that she´s free of the Keepers but not form herself was intoxicating; her struggle with her feelings, her loyalties to her pack and to her new allegiances, keeps you on your toes the entire book.

The new characters are lovable and mesmerizing, and they bring so much to the plot that you just don´t miss some of the characters of the previous book and at the same time they give you a sense of lounging cause you can see traits of the wolf pack in them.

The way Shay developed through the book was impressive and perfect, his love for Calla and the way their relationship evolves around ghost from the past was enthralling and makes you wish for Ren to appear and claim what he feels  his and his alone.

The truths we learn at each page turn are shocking and puts a “duh how didn´t I see that coming?” look on your face.

So this one is by far the best book on the series and seeing that the first one was actually a work of art, well… you guys should be running for a book store right now: D

So this one is one of my fav series so far and it earned a huge five star.

Touch by Jennifer Snyder

I got this book on a R2R and I liked the story but I found myself not quite trapped by it.

The book has a very easy way through it, but it left me with too many unanswered question.

The story is about Rowan a young girl whose mother committed suicide a few months back, and she´s very depressed by it.

One day she has an accident and right there is where the book falls apart. She meets Jet who is as emotional as a rock but she´s instantly attracted to him.

The whole book goes by, while she is crying over her mother, thinking about her own death and making puppy eyes at Jet, surrounded by nothing; she has absolutely no one, no friends no nothing and it gets really boring after a lot of pages to keep reading the same thought over and over again.

Then almost at the end of the book she meets her destiny, some interesting things happen and then it just ends, without any explanation or answer to the million question I had.

Questions I can´t put here without a HUGE spoiler alert so, I’m not going to!!!

That being said the book is very well written, and I think that is going to be a series, and that´s why so many things where left hanging.

Will I keep reading this series? Yes of course, the plot is interesting and the few twists and turns it has are good, I just hope the next book has some answers.

BTW don´t u guys love the Cover?, it´s absolutely beautiful isn´t it?

The Next Thing I Knew by John Corwin

“Humanity is Extinct” this is how the book starts off, they`re all dead every single person on earth, well almost.
We met Lucy a lovely, funny, and strong-willed girl, who died at home with her parents and baby brother; she meets with many of her friends, well actually with almost everybody else at what they think is the afterlife, and well things in this book just flow from there.
The story is enigmatic, intriguing and engaging, I found myself at two or three in the morning glued to this book and not able to let it go.
John Corwin manages to take the reader into a huge ride throw SCI FI lane, we have Ghosts, Aliens, religious fanatics and so much more.
It was like reading Michael Crichton meets George Lucas meets Melissa Mathison but in the best way possible.
The only thing that I don´t like is the “Now what” feeling I have now that the book ended…
That being said John if you don`t write a sequel for this book soon enough I’ll have to turn Kung fu Panda on you, with or without the meditation lol!!!!
The Next Thing you knew I was giving your book a five star rating just cause I can, and just cause I absolutely loved it.
You guys really need to pick this up it`s a great book!!!!
