Ignite Excerpt
Prologue
Kira
watched as he languidly stood up, flexing his muscles as though he had just
awakened from a long dream. He stretched his arms over his head and cracked the
bones in his neck before finally settling his gaze on her. She hardly
recognized him, the boy she had fallen in love with. Where minutes before there
had been light and emotion in his eyes, there was only a black hole, a
seemingly endless abyss. Kira had never seen him look at her that way, like
less than food, like vermin, even since the first time they had met.
"Aren’t
you going to run?" He asked with sinister humor coloring his words. The
smirk on his face may as well have been a knife cutting through her heart. The
darkness had always called him, but Kira had always thought that being with her
would be enough to keep him from crossing over. She saw now that he had
surrendered to his nature and for the first time she felt real fear when he
looked at her.
Kira
stepped backwards on shaky feet, trying to digest the question. She didn’t have
an answer. How could she turn her back on him and run away? The man she loved
was trying to kill her. There were no options. Could she forget it all—all the nights they had shared kissing and swapping
secrets—and fight to kill? Or, would she run
and admit that there was no hope that he would return to her?
Kira
said his name and reached out her hand, searching one last time for the man she
had lost.
"Yes,
honey." The word hit her like a slap in the face as it rolled off of his
tongue drenched in sarcasm.
Kira
looked up at the sun, still hidden behind the shadow of the moon, and sprinted
into the tree line behind her. She couldn’t give up on him now. But, when the
eclipse was over, maybe she would finally find the strength to fight.

Now lets meet the author behind this series.
lets Welcome
Kaitlyn Davis!!!!!
Serious Interview
1.
How
would you describe The Midnight Fire Series?
a.
A whirlwind paranormal adventure with heart-pumping action and heart-stopping
romance!
2.
Which
character you had most fun writing?
a.
Definitely Kira, my main character! I really wanted to
create a strong, relatable female lead and I think I did that in Kira. She is
thrown so many curveballs and her life is turned completely upside down, but
she manages to keep it together and persevere. I love a girl who can kick some
ass and doesn’t let the boys fight her battles!
3.
Which
character was the most difficult to write?
a.
My two bad guys: Diana and I'll keep the other one secret for readers
new to the series! They had to be evil, but not caricatures, and sometimes that
can be a difficult balance to strike.
4.
What
was your main source of inspiration for the story?
a.
The sun! I love the sun and I've always thought there was something
mystical about it. Transforming its rays into an epic power was actually pretty
easy to do!
5.
What
was the book that most influenced your life — and why?
a.
Goodnight Moon is definitely one of
them. I barely remember my life at five years old, let alone the books I read,
but I do remember loving Goodnight Moon—and
that is some pretty powerful stuff! Picture and board books I read as a child
definitely fused a love of reading into my identity, and that had shaped the
course of my life.
6.
If you had to do it all over again, would you
change anything in your latest book?
a.
No! I am absolutely satisfied with how everything turned out… and
hopefully my readers will think the same!
7.
Is
there a message in your series that you want readers to grasp?
a.
Life is a journey and you have to make your own choices. Don't let other
people decide your fate for you.
8.
How
has your environment/upbringing colored your writing?
a.
I'm fortunate enough to have amazing parents who nurtured my love of
reading by buying me tons of wonderful books. So when the time came to turn
that love of reading into an obsession with writing, they supported me. And
that has always meant the world to me.
9.
When
did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
a.
Ever since I was a little girl, I've been crafting stories—verbally and
through the written word. But it wasn't until my senior year in high school,
when I actually sat down and wrote my first novella, that I realized it was the
career for me. Since then, every sliver of energy I could spare has been put
towards turning that dream into a reality!

Silly Me
1.
Why
is it that when someone tells you that there's billions of stars in the
universe,
you believe them. But if they tell you there's wet paint somewhere you have to touch it?
you believe them. But if they tell you there's wet paint somewhere you have to touch it?
a.
Wet paint? Where?
2.
Why
is it good to be a Daddy's girl, but bad to be a Momma's boy?
a.
Daddy's girls get jewelry… Momma's boys get tattoos :) But sometimes
it's good to be a little bad!
3.
Is
it true cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?
a.
Yes! Everyone knows that clowns are demons sent from the underworld…
they must taste awful!
