YA books turning into movie 2012

Here are some that I´ve found so far.

                      Cassandra Clare´s  City of Bones

“Screen Gems has teamed with Constantin Film and Unique Features to develop the motion picture franchise MORTAL INSTRUMENTS based on The New York Times Bestselling book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Jessica Postigo penned the script which is based on the first book in the series, City of Bones.** Constantin Film’s head of Film & TV Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce and Robert Kulzer will produce the project via the Constantin Film banner along with producing partners Michael Lynne, Robert Shaye, and executive producer Dylan Sellers via their Unique Features banner..” (Cited from Cassandra Clare's Blog)

                        Suzanne Collins´s  The Hunger Games

“LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, announced the close of principal photography on the highly anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ runaway bestselling novel The Hunger Games. Lionsgate will release THE HUNGER GAMES on March 23, 2012. The film is the first in a series that Lionsgate is making based on the book trilogy that has become a worldwide phenomenon.
Filmed entirely in North Carolina, the locations spanned from a dense forest in which the arena that hosts the games themselves was created to a town that stood in for Katniss’ home, District 12, to a sound stage that was the platform for the fantastical sights and sounds of The Capitol, the futuristic capital city of the nation of Panem. Principal photography on the 84 day production began on May 23rd

                   Richelle Mead´s Vampire Academy

On June 29th 2010 it was announced that Preger Entertainment had acquired the film rights to Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy series. The movie is still a very big maybe but with Don Murphy (Transformers) on board as producer things are definitely looking good. Both Preger and Murphy seem very dedicated to the movie and acknowledge the great anticipation of the fanbase.

“The joy of these books is that in the wake of ‘Twilight’ they offer a chance to create a movie franchise that guys will want to see as well as girls,” he said. “Michael and I plan on positioning the films as something both sexes will enjoy together, expanding the genre of sexy young vampires to a whole new audience. We are beginning discussions with studios immediately.”
Preger also stated that “It was the fan base that made all this happen in my opinion. That’s why we want to stay in touch with that force. Not just on opening weekend, but through the whole process of making this movie. This is their movie after all.”

The screenplay for the Fallen movie is currently being developed and Lauren Kate is involved in a consulting capacity.”
